Is Alpari a good broker?
Alpari has four live accounts: Micro ($30, cent balances, spreads from 1.5 pips), Standard ($100, from 1.2 pips), ECN ($300, from 0.8 pips, no commission) and Pro ECN ($500, from 0.0 pips plus $2.5 per lot on forex). All run on MetaTrader 4, and Standard and Pro ECN also on MetaTrader 5.
Read the full verdict
The big caveat is regulation. Alpari's only licence that we could confirm is from MISA, an offshore authority with light oversight. There is no compensation scheme, and Alpari publishes no negative balance protection or retail loss figure on the pages we read.
What to watch: an inactivity fee of 10 EUR/USD/GBP a month after 3 months with no trading, possible fees on withdrawals after no trading (banking fees or 3%), and leverage up to 1:3000, which can wipe out an account in seconds.
Best for: traders starting with a small account.
Alpari pros and cons

- Long history: the brand dates from 1998
- Low entry: Micro from $30, Standard from $100
- ECN account with no commission; Pro ECN from 0.0 pips

- MT4, MT5 and an own app
Watch out for

- No compensation scheme or published negative balance protection
- 10 EUR/USD/GBP monthly inactivity fee after 3 months
- Leverage up to 1:3000 is extremely risky
- No retail loss figure published

Is Alpari legit and safe?
An offshore licence is a much weaker safety net than a UK, EU or Australian one. Alpari says client funds are kept entirely separate from its own in top-tier banks, but there is no independent compensation scheme, and disputes go through its offshore regulator.
Alpari works through one licensed entity: Parlance Trading Ltd (MISA, T2023236). Which one holds your account depends on where you live, and that decides your protection: leverage limits, negative balance protection and any compensation scheme come from that entity's licence, not from the brand.
On client money, Alpari says: "Your funds are kept entirely separated from our own in top-tier banks". Segregation means your deposit is kept in separate bank accounts from the company's own money.
Compensation: None stated (offshore MISA licence).
Alpari does not publish negative balance protection for every entity on the pages we checked. It is required for retail clients under UK, EU and Australian rules; check your own account agreement.
Alpari was founded in 1998. Headquarters: Parlance Trading Ltd, Bonovo Road, Fomboni, Island of Mohéli, Comoros Union.
MISA licence (Parlance Trading Ltd)
Parlance Trading Ltd is licensed by the Mwali International Services Authority (MISA) in the island of Mohéli (Comoros), licence or reference T2023236. We read it on alpari.com (https://alpari.com/en/about/).
The Mwali International Services Authority is an offshore authority. This is one of the lightest forms of oversight in retail trading: there is no retail leverage cap that we know of and no compensation scheme, so your protection depends mostly on the firm itself.
To check it yourself, open the register at https://alpari.com/en/about/, search for "Parlance Trading Ltd" or T2023236, and make sure the name, status and website match before you deposit.
Alpari account types
Alpari lists these accounts: Micro, Standard, ECN, Pro ECN (plus a demo account and PAMM investing).
Micro accounts are shown in US or euro cents, which suits testing strategies with very small sums. ECN and Pro ECN have higher margin call (80%) and stop-out (50%) levels than Micro and Standard (50% and 20%). PAMM investing is also offered.
Base currencies: USD or EUR (Micro: USC or EUC cents). Choosing the currency you deposit in avoids paying a conversion fee each time money goes in or out.
Alpari does not publish a swap-free (Islamic) account on the pages we checked.
Demo account: Yes (on MT4 and MT5). A demo uses virtual money, so it is the safe place to learn the platform before you risk real funds.
Alpari fees and spreads
A spread is the gap between the buy and the sell price; it is the main cost on most CFD trades. Alpari's published spreads: 0.0 pips (Pro ECN); 0.8 pips (ECN); 1.2 pips (Standard; Micro from 1.5 pips). "From" figures are the tightest moments in the best markets; normal spreads are usually wider, especially at night and around news.
On Pro ECN, one standard lot of forex costs $2.5 in commission plus a spread from 0.0 pips. Pro ECN also charges commission on metals, indices, crypto and stock CFDs, set out on its account page. Deposit and withdrawal fees depend on the method and are shown in MyAlpari.
Commission
Commission, as Alpari publishes it: None on Micro, Standard and ECN; Pro ECN forex $2.5 per lot traded.
On a commission account you pay a fixed amount per lot on top of a small spread; on a spread-only account the cost is built into a wider spread. Add both together to compare the real cost of one trade.
Other fees to check
Inactivity fee: 10 EUR/ USD/ GBP a month after 3 months with no trading activity.
Currency conversion fee: Alpari does not publish a conversion fee on the pages we checked.
Swaps (overnight financing) are charged or paid when you hold a position past the daily rollover; check the swap of each market on the platform before holding trades for days.
Alpari minimum deposit
Minimum deposit: $30 (Micro); $100 (Standard); $300 (ECN); $500 (Pro ECN).
Minimum first deposits are $30 (Micro), $100 (Standard), $300 (ECN) and $500 (Pro ECN).
A small first deposit lets you test the account, the platform and a withdrawal before you commit more. Only deposit money you can afford to lose.
Deposit methods
Alpari lists these deposit methods: Bank transfers, Debit and credit cards, E-wallets, Local payment methods and Cryptocurrency. Which ones you see depends on your country and your Alpari entity.
Deposit fee: Depends on the method (shown in MyAlpari; subtracted from the deposited amount).
Always deposit from an account or card in your own name: brokers reject third-party payments and return funds to the source.
Alpari withdrawals
Withdrawal methods: Bank transfers, Debit and credit cards, E-wallets, Local payment methods and Cryptocurrency.
Withdrawal fee: Depends on the method (shown in MyAlpari); after no trading activity Alpari may charge banking fees or 3% of the withdrawal.
Timing: Alpari does not publish a withdrawal processing time on the pages we checked.
Alpari does not publish a withdrawal processing time; back-office transfers are handled during business hours. If you withdraw after no trading activity, it reserves the right to charge banking fees incurred or 3% of the withdrawal.
Like most brokers, Alpari sends money back to the method you deposited with first. Verify your identity before your first withdrawal, and try a small withdrawal early so you know how it works.
Trading platforms
Alpari offers MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and Alpari Mobile App.
The Alpari Mobile App gives a simpler view; MetaTrader 4 and 5 are there for advanced charting and expert advisors. Stock CFDs and ETFs are on MT5 only.
MetaTrader 4 and 5 suit traders who use expert advisors (automated strategies) and custom indicators; a broker's own app is usually simpler for beginners. Try the platform on a demo before you trade real money.
Leverage and risk
Leverage lets you open a position larger than your deposit. It multiplies gains and losses in the same way.
Maximum leverage, as Alpari publishes it: Up to 1:3000 (ECN and Pro ECN, Parlance Trading Ltd).
Leverage goes up to 1:500 on Micro, 1:1000 on Standard and 1:3000 on ECN and Pro ECN. Leverage this high means a very small price move can close your positions.
Alpari does not publish a retail loss figure on the pages we could read. Most retail CFD traders lose money; a broker under EU, UK or Australian rules must show its own figure, so ask for it before you deposit.
Margin call and stop-out: margin call at 50% (Micro, Standard); 80% (ECN, Pro ECN), stop-out at 20% (Micro, Standard); 50% (ECN, Pro ECN). A stop-out means the platform starts closing your positions automatically when your equity falls to that share of the margin in use.
Alpari pros and cons
What we like: Long history: the brand dates from 1998; Low entry: Micro from $30, Standard from $100; ECN account with no commission; Pro ECN from 0.0 pips; Many payment options including local methods and crypto; MT4, MT5 and an own app.
What to watch: Only an offshore MISA licence confirmed; No compensation scheme or published negative balance protection; 10 EUR/USD/GBP monthly inactivity fee after 3 months; Leverage up to 1:3000 is extremely risky; No retail loss figure published.
Who is Alpari best for?
Alpari suits experienced traders outside the UK, EU and Australia who understand offshore risk and want low minimums, ECN pricing and MetaTrader.
Beginners and anyone who values strong protection should prefer a broker licensed by a tier-1 regulator in their own country.
How to open a Alpari account
- Go to Alpari's official website (https://alpari.com) and check that the entity named in the footer is the one licensed for your country.
- Register, then upload your ID and proof of address. Brokers must verify you before you can withdraw.
- Choose your account type and base currency (Micro, Standard, ECN, Pro ECN (plus a demo account and PAMM investing)).
- Deposit at least $30 (Micro); $100 (Standard); $300 (ECN); $500 (Pro ECN) with a method in your own name, then practise on the platform with small trades.
- Request a small withdrawal early, so you know how long it takes before you add more money.
The fine print
These are the rules Alpari keeps in its terms, read on its own pages on 2026-10-16:
- Inactivity fee: 10 EUR/ USD/ GBP a month after 3 months with no trading activity
- Withdrawal fee: Depends on the method (shown in MyAlpari); after no trading activity Alpari may charge banking fees or 3% of the withdrawal
- Deposit fee: Depends on the method (shown in MyAlpari; subtracted from the deposited amount)
- Minimum withdrawal: not published on the pages we checked
- Currency conversion fee: not published on the pages we checked
- Negative balance protection: not published on the pages we checked
- Margin call: 50% (Micro, Standard); 80% (ECN, Pro ECN)
- Stop-out: 20% (Micro, Standard); 50% (ECN, Pro ECN)
CFDs are complex instruments and come with a high risk of losing money rapidly due to leverage. Brokers change their terms; confirm each number on the official page before you deposit.
Our final verdict
Alpari is a well-known name with competitive account options, but today it operates under an offshore MISA licence only, which offers little protection.
If you use it, deposit only what you can afford to lose, keep leverage very low, avoid leaving the account inactive, and test a withdrawal early. Most retail CFD traders lose money.
Regulation and licences
Check each licence yourself on the regulator's own register. Your protection depends on the company (entity) that opens your account.
