How to open an AvaTrade account

By · Published · Facts checked on AvaTrade's own site on (UTC)· 2 min read

Short answer

Opening an AvaTrade account takes five steps: register on AvaTrade's site, verify your identity and address, choose an account, fund it (minimum: 100 (USD/EUR/GBP/AUD, base currency)) and pick a platform.

How to open an AvaTrade account

The sign-up form takes minutes; the part that matters is choosing the right AvaTrade company and account. Here are the steps with AvaTrade's own published conditions at each one.

1. Check which AvaTrade company will hold your account

AvaTrade holds licences from CBI, ASIC, FSCA, ADGM FSRA, FSA Japan, FSC BVI, CySEC. The company that opens your account depends on your country of residence, and it decides your leverage and protection. Which AvaTrade company opens your account depends on where you live. If you live in the EU, the UK, Australia, South Africa, Kenya, the UAE or Qatar, our link only goes to an AvaTrade entity licensed for your country, and where there is none we show no link. We show no sign-up links at all in countries where promoting offshore brokers is not allowed.

2. Register and verify your identity

Register on AvaTrade's website or app with your email and phone. Regulated brokers must check your identity and address under anti-money-laundering rules, so AvaTrade will ask for documents in its sign-up flow. Verifying before you deposit avoids delays on your first withdrawal.

3. Choose an account type and currency

Commission: "No commission on CFDs (cost is in the spread)". Accounts differ in how they charge you (spread or commission); see the cost per lot calculator.

4. Make your first deposit

Minimum deposit: 100 (USD/EUR/GBP/AUD, base currency). Deposit methods AvaTrade lists: Credit/debit card, Wire transfer, Skrill, Neteller (e-payments not for EU/AU clients).

5. Pick a platform and start on demo

AvaTrade lists: MT4, MT5, WebTrader, AvaTradeGO. Practise there first. Most retail CFD accounts lose money; check AvaTrade's own figure on its website before you trade.
