Spread or commission: how each account charges you
Pepperstone's spreads: "from 0.0 pips (Razor, FX)". Its commission: "USD 3.50 per lot per side (Razor, FX and spot gold)". By account: "Standard: 1 pip markup on forex, no commission (Razor: raw spreads from 0.0 pips plus USD 3.50 per lot per side)". A "from" spread is the lowest the broker shows, not what you pay most of the time. To compare two accounts fairly, add the spread cost and the round-turn commission for one lot; the cost per lot calculator does it in a few seconds.
Which account suits which trader
- Fewer, longer trades: the spread matters less than swaps and simplicity; a commission-free account keeps the costs in one number.
- Many short trades: the spread is paid on every trade, so a raw-spread account with commission often costs less per lot. Check with the calculator before you decide.
- Small first account: start with the account that has the lowest minimum deposit (Pepperstone: "$10 (no minimum for domestic bank transfers)") and a demo first.
Platforms you can use
Pepperstone lists: Pepperstone platform, MT4, MT5, TradingView, cTrader. Not every account is available on every platform; Pepperstone's account pages say which.
